IED at Speaker's house, bombs galore

Imphal, January 19, 2012:
Along with an IED planted near the residential gate of Assembly Speaker Irengbam Hemochandra, bomb attacks targeting Congress workers continue unabated in different parts of the valley districts.
According to a police source, an IED was found at Chingamakha Maibam Leirak, about 500 metres South of the Speaker's residence at about 10.30 am today.
The powerful explosive which did not go off was retrieved by explosive experts of Manipur Police.
One hand grenade was found at the residence of one Ngangbam Roshan (39) at Taretkhul Awang Leikai this morning at about 6.30. Ng Roshan is said to be a supporter of Deputy Speaker Th Lokeshore.
The unexploded grenade was picked up by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles.
Another hand grenade hurled by some unidentified persons exploded within the residential compound of one Congress worker Herojit (30) at Bamon Kampu at about 3.30 am today.
The grenade which exploded inside a bamboo grove did not cause any human casualty.
Further, one more IED of intensity exploded in front of Wangjing-Tentha Block Congress Committee office at Wangjing Bazar at about 7.20 pm yesterday.
However, there is no report of any casualty.
Another hand grenade was lobbed at the residence of a worker of INC candidate N Loken at Waheng Khuman Maning Leikai today at about 7.20 pm in Nambol Assembly Constituency.
The bomb exploded but no one was injured in the explosion.
The worker has been identified as Oinam Samu, a Gram Panchayat member.
