Imphal, January 19, 2012:
Expressing serious concern over alleged use of liquor and other intoxicants by the candidates to lure young voters, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has called upon the local club members and Meira Paibis to step up anti-drug drive and teach a lesson to those candidates who are trying to destroy the future of Manipuri society.
In a statement, Vice President of AMADA head office Y Sundari Leima said that for the last many years, AMADA has been making conscious effort towards making Manipur a drug free state.
Along with formation of Special Task Force, AMADA had even held consultations with the candidates in the hope that they would contribute their mite towards bringing about social reformation.
But it is unfortunate that candidates have been plying young voters with drugs and other intoxicants with an eye on winning the election.
While appreciating the anti-drug drive initiated by Special Enforcement Team of Excise Department in connection with the election, AMADA, however, pointed out that there should be no sign of slackening in carrying the drive.
