Liquor worth ` 1.7 lakhs destroyed

The Excise Department destroyed liquor worth Rs 1.7 lakhs which was recovered from different places from January 10 to 15 last.
The liquor which include three cases and five bottles of Indian made foreign liquor, one case of can beer and 2707 litres of local made liquor were burnt in the complex of the Excise department at Lamphelpat today.
Addressing reporters at the spot, Keisham Joykumar, Asst Commissioner, Excise Department said that the liquors which were burnt down today have been retrieved from various places including Andro parking area.
It also contains liquors seized by the Lamshang Police, Border Affairs and Litan Police.
The drive for confiscating liquor from various vendors has been taken up in connection with the upcoming Assembly polls.
The drive will continue even after the election.
