Slain duo named siblings, charges fly

The two suspected UG cadres who were killed in a reported encounter with police commandos at Uran Chiru on the road leading to MAASI complex yesterday have been identified as cousin brothers.
The deceased persons were identified as Md Ishaque Ali (25) s/o MV Abdur Razak and Md Mustakim (25) s/o Md Abdul Hassan of Lilong Chaobok Mairen Khun.
In connection with the killing, a JAC has been constituted today which has dubbed the incident as a fake encounter.
Claiming that the duo were innocent persons, the JAC also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today demanding a judicial inquiry into the incident.
Addessing a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club, JAC convenor Md Abdul Quayum clarified that the duo were innocent people.
He informed that Ishaque Ali worked as a van driver of Imphal-Moreh road whereas Mustakim was a psychiatric patient.
The duo went for filling petrol towards Singjamei for Ishaque's Moreh trip taking with them with Rs 50 thousand, he added.
The convenor added that Ishaque is survived by his wife and a son whereas Mustakim was engaged for marriage.
He further condemned that incident as heinous crime of killing innocent people.
Meanwhile, Social Democratic Party of India also condemned the killing and submitted a memorandum to the Governor today demanding assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the bereaved families of the late duo.
The memorandum also demanded to conduct inquiry into the incident and repeal of AFSPA from the State.
