Imphal, February 04 2014:
Ahead of the proposed tripartite talks among the United Naga Council (UNC), Govt of India and Govt of Manipur slated for February 6 at Senapati district headquarters, two prominent Kuki bodies have petitioned the Prime Minister saying that they would not accept any outcome of the proposed talk.
"The possible outcome of the talk in whatever forms will never be accepted by the Kukis before settling the murder of 905 Indian Kukis, uprooting of 360 Indian Kuki villages and rendering 100,000 Indian Kukis homeless in the Court of Law," the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and Kuki Organisation for Human Rights (KOHR) stated in an open memorandum to the Prime Minister of India.
The UNC's quit notice on Oct 22, 1992 resulted in the murder of 905 Kukis, uprooting of 360 Indian Kuki villages and rendering 100,000 Indian Kukis homeless, the Kuki bodies representation brought to the notice of the PM.
Meiteis, Kukis and Nagas have been living together in harmony since time immemorial.
The hills are the home of Kukis and Nagas and districts in Manipur are named after towns etc and no district belongs to any particular tribe, the Kuki bodies said while conveying that any kind of political arrangement for one ethnic group (UNC) in Manipur would not be accepted.
Any political talk, if absolutely required, must be for all indigenous peopleMeiteis, Kukis and Nagas, it demanded.
"Any political talk with one ethnic group is to sow the seed of hatred and war, and the Govt involved in such talk should be held responsible for communal war," the representation asserted while adding, "Such talk will never be accepted for the sake of peace and social harmony in the State" .
