Imphal, June 02 2012:
A representative each of six student organisations will be leaving for Bangalore on June 4 to prevail upon the Chief Minister and DGP of Karnataka State for a thorough investigation on the controversial death of Loitam Richard.
Informing on the proposed visit at MSF office today in the presence of representatives of DESAM, AMSU, MSF, KSA, SAUK and SUK, DESAM vice president M Angamba conveyed that as different form of protests since May 4 failed to generate convincing development on the circumstances leading to Richard's death decision was taken by the student bodies to place the issue before the Karnataka CM and the DGP.
Pointing out that protest demonstration including locking up of offices of political organisations here in the State could not have the desired impact on the issue, Angamba deplored that deputing an IPS officer to Karnataka by the Government of Manipur has been reduced to a futile exercise as findings, if any, by the IPS officer had not been declared to the public.
He also accused the Central and State Governments of Manipur and Karnataka of attempting to mislead the people of Manipur by employing delaying tactics as well as trying to divert the issue through pretentious declarations/comments.
Terming the recent announcement by the Karnataka Government for examination of Richard's body by forensic experts of AIMS as yet another ploy to subdue the case, Angamba stated that he along with AMSU vice president Abdul Sheikh, MSF president Ng Milan, KSA president Y Pradeepkumar, SUAK secretary general S Punshiba and SUK vice president L Santosh will leave for Bangalore on June 4 .
At Bangalore the student leaders will prevail upon the Karnataka CM and DGP for a more vigorous investigation to crack the case so that all the guilty persons be subjected to exemplary punishment, Angamba asserted while informing that efforts would be made to hold a protest rally/demonstration at Bangalore in collaboration with Bangalore Manipuri Students' Association and North East Forum.
Pointing out that inspite of detaining two hostellers on suspicion they are not yet subjected to interrogation as the case merits, he said such callousness testify weakness of the Manipur Government and intention of the Karnataka Government to keep the case under wrap.
In case the proposed meeting with the Karnataka CM and DGP is not entertained BJP organisation would be banned in Manipur, he declared.
