Imphal, May 23 2012:
Demanding the cancellation of scheduled interview for recruitment of various teaching and non-teaching posts in the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University as advertised in national and local newspapers on December 12, 2011, the IGNTU Students' Union-Regional Campus Manipur has threatened to impose 48-hour bandh in the hill districts including the two National Highways from 5am of May 26 if the VC fails to cancel the advertisement for recruitment.
In a statement, information secretary of IGNTUSU-RCM, Peter Mate said the recruitment of the any post in the university before settling the reservation issue is against the MoU (point 13) signed between the students body and the Government authority.
Slamming the VC for the alleged violation of the MoU, the statement contended that it shows the incompetent character of the VC.
Alleging that the University authority is resorting to piecemeal creation of post so that the question of reservation would not come up, the students' union said it would stiffly oppose any recruitment drive until the reservation issue is settled.
It further appealed the concerned district students' bodies, intellectuals and every community to extend cooperation to the bandh for the larger interest of the backward tribal community while adding that any untoward incident arising due to the bandh is to be owned by the University Authrotiy of IGNTU, Amarkantak (MP) .
