Power Department Switch over to corporation on track

The proposed switch over of the Power Department to a corporation is likely to be finalised by March next year.
Although, SBI Capital Investment (SBI Caps) is likely to be entrusted with the task of working out the ways and means for the said purpose, preparation and inking of terms and conditions with the company may take atleast two months, said a reliable source.
Furthermore, the entire assesment process may again consume five-six months, it added.
Although, the State Power Department would be handed over to a competent private company after switching it to a corporation, power transmission would be however shared between the new corporation and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI), the source added.
Asserting that there can be no loopholes in the entire process, the source said that the assesment process would delve into every minute details to avoid failure of the new corporation.

After studying the assets and staff strength of the State Power Department, SBI Caps would suggest the type of administrative system to be adopted by the new corporation, said the source.
It added that SBI Caps would also fix the type of responsiblity to be given to the incompetant staff, if any, of the Power Department.
It would also prepare a thorough employees policy, the source added.
It may be mentioned that the ground work for setting up a new 400 KV line to Manipur from Silchar and upgradation of power sub-station at Yurembam to 400 KV station is set to be ready by March next year.
