KCP (MC) - Nongdrenkhomba Group celebrated the 119th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at the temporary designated camp of the outfit today.
Comrades of the outfit observed a two-minute silence and offered floral tributes to the late leader, said a statement issued by outfit's PRO AK Mangang.
The statement said that commander-in-chief Nongdrenkhomba remembered the life and contributions of Hijam Irabot in his speech.
Hijam Irabot was a friend of farmers and he dedicated his life for the poor people, Nongdrenkhomba said.
He added that Hijam Irabot believed in maintaining unity between hill and valley people and he worked hard for the promotion and protection of art and culture.
Nongdrenkhomba said that Hijam Irabot introduced the idea of Meira Paibee movement in 1940 .
The outfit not only distributed cloth and sweetmeats to the inmates of Children Home, Moirang and Old Age Home, Kumbi but also planted saplings on the day, the statement said.
