Nabakishore appointed new Chief Secretary

Imphal, September 30 2015:
With the retirement of PC Lawmkunga as the Chief Secretary of the State, the Government has appointed Additional Chief Secretary (Works, Election and CEO) O Nabakishore as the new Chief Secretary today.
An official source said that Department of Personnel has issued an order to this effect today.
O Nabakishore is an IAS officer of Manipur-Tripura (1984) cadre and he is the first Meitei to be appointed to the top post.

He topped Matriculation examination in 1975, secured 8th position in PUC examination and got 6th position in MSc (Physics) in Delhi University in 1982 .
In his first attempt in 1983, he cracked the Combined Civil Services examination and received a position in the Indian Audit and Accounts Service.
However, he turned down the offer and made his second attempt the following year and made the cut for the IAS.
O Nabakishore, who had received higher studies in countries like Philippines, had worked at Union Petroleum Ministry and Human Development Ministry etc as an IAS officer.
Meanwhile, outgoing Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga has been given a grand farewell by the IAS and MCS officers today.
Secretariat employees had already bade farewell to Lawmkunga yesterday.
