Tree plantation drives organised

Imphal, January 30 2023:
Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (South) organised mega tree plantation drive to promote afforestation under the theme of "Adopt a tree Campaign" at Aina village on Monday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the plantation drive was focused upon imbibing the importance of trees and spreading awareness amongst locals and troops on saving the earth by planting more trees.
The villagers were also briefed on adopting eco-friendly lifestyle thereby contributing towards mother earth and cleaner environment.
A total of 100 saplings of fruits, shady and local variety of plants were planted as part of the drive at Aina.
A total of 20 locals attended the plantation drive.
The local populace expressed their willingness to work together with Assam Rifles towards a safer, secure and greener environment in future also.
They also expressed gratitude to security forces for conducting such informative and eco-friendly events, the PRO said.
Mantripukhri Battalion of IGAR (South) also organised a tree plantation drive at Ngarumphung village in Kangpokpi district on Monday.
The aim of the drive was to make people aware about the importance of trees in our life and to save the endangered environment which is the most valuable gift of nature.
During the event, an informative lecture was also delivered on "Importance of tree plantation and its benefits".
A total of 15 villagers attended the event and planted 50 saplings of multiple varieties.
The local population also appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles for their initiative toward this noble cause and asked to lead more of these events in the future.
