Imphal, November 08 2021:
Charging Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) of levelling unfounded charges against the officials of FCI Sawombung, truck drivers working for FCI have banned MDA members from entering FCI warehouses.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at FCI Sawombung gate on Monday, the drivers who are working for FCI said that some members of MDA came to the Sawombung warehouse on November 3 and prevented the trucks from unloading goods at the food grain storage facility while levelling baseless charges against the officials.
They tried contacting the MDA functionaries over the phone but the latter ignored their request and as a result, many drivers missed celebration of Ningol Chakkouba festival in their respective homes.
Later, they made another request through All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers' Union (Drivers' Union) general secretary Maimom Anil.
Consequently, an understanding was brought in a joint meeting and the drivers would now start unloading goods in the FCI warehouse from Tuesday on wards.
Expressing concern over the indifferent attitude shown by MDA towards the drivers, they have resolved to ban MDA members from entering FCI warehouses, the drivers said.
