IMC workers gear up for mass rally

Imphal, February 04 2014:
To register strong protest against the State Government's inaction over its demand for implementation of 6th Pay Commission to the workers of Imphal Municipal Council (IMC), Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC) of Imphal Municipal Employees' Union (IMEU) and All Manipur Municipalities Workers' Union (AMMWU) would be organizing a mass rally to be followed by a meeting with Chief Minister either on February 6 or 7 .
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao in this regard, Oinam Dinamani, vice-chairman of the JCC, said that the employees of IMC have been facing lot of difficulties in running their families due to the non-implementation of 6th Pay Commission despite the fact that prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed.
He stated that employees of IMC started their cease work strike from December 17, 2013 but the State Government has not paid any heed to the demand till date.
Maintaining that future course of agitation of the JCC will be discussed after the meeting with the CM, he also pointed out that employees of the IMC are still to receive their 18 months salaries of 5th Pay Commission forget about 6th Pay Commission.
