AR joins cleanliness drive

12 Bihar of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) organised a cleanliness drive at Malom, Ghari Makha Leikai and Patsoi IV villages yesterday, as part of ' Swachh Bharat Mission' .
The Commanding Officer of 12 Bihar inaugurated the programme by planting saplings at Ghari Makha Leikai.
Around 300 locals and army personnel worked in conjunction throughout the day.
The village heads of Malom, Ghari Makha Leikai, BDO and Chairman of Youth Club Patsoi IV villages reiterated the importance of Swachh Bharat Mission for the health and hygiene of the countrymen.
In a similar endeavour, 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) organised the Zero Garbage Drive at Shaibol village and a lecture on National integration and non-violence at Ril Ram Center Post yesterday.
The programme was attended by around 120 locals including women, children and youth of the villages.
The villagers along with the troops of Assam Rifles main- tained the dumping areas of waste products on the occasion.
All the clogged drains were cleaned and people were told about the positive effects of living in a clean and green society.
The village authorities participated and cleaned the village area and they commended the initiative of the Assam Rifles.
In another endeavour, 6 Dogra of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) organised screening of patriotic movie for local populace of Moltuk, Old Songyang, New Songyang and Khuntak villages on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The aim of screening of patriotic movie 'Gandhi' was not only to provide information on Baapu's life but also to create an atmosphere of patriotism in the minds of the local populace and spread the message of non-violence, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
Notably Gandhi Jayenti (October 2) is celebrated as National Cleanliness Day across the country in honour of the Father of Nation.
