Imphal, October 03 2014 :
Family of Laishram Ibomcha, the main accused in the Lourembam Ranjita Devi murder case, demanded today that the Government should hand over the case to the CBI.
"Our father, who is the breadwinner of our family, has been wrongly accused of killing Ranjita," Laishram Kenedy and his brother Naoba told reporters here at the Press Club.
They insisted that their father was never involved in the killing of Ranjita.
Ranjita, 33, resident of Khoirom Mathak Leikai in Thoubal district was found dead at Khoirom paddy field on August 2 this year.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) fighting for justice in the Ranjita murder case has been claiming that the housewife was raped and later murdered by the accused.
The two brothers demanded that the Government hand over the Ranjita murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigation to find out the real culprits so as to deliver justice.
