Students demand release of DU research scholar

Northeast Forum for International Solidarity and Manipur Students' Association, Delhi (MSAD) have demanded the authorities to release a research scholar of Delhi University Alok from Bihar, who was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the agitation against compulsory study of Hindi subject in Delhi University.
Addressing media persons at KSA head-office here today, Organizer of NE Forum for International Solidarity Chinglen Khumukcham and President of MSAD Samananda Elangbam said that the decision of the DU authorities to make Hindi subject compulsory has irked the NE students whose mother tongues are not Hindi.
The students have launched series of agitations demanding the University authorities to review the decision.
One research scholar Alok has been arrested by Delhi Police for no other reason except his involvement in the agitation, they asserted.
They further said that the students would launch intense agitations all over the country if the arrested research scholar is not released unconditionally by tomorrow.
