IRC distributes hygiene kits to widows of Senapati

Senapati, January 20 2022:
The Senapati Branch of Indian Red Cross Society, under the aegis of Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch, on Wednesday distributed hygiene kits to widows of Senapati district.
The distribution programme was held at Senapati Ground in the presence of Dr RK Nimai Singh, general secretary IRCS Manipur State Branch, his team and executives of the district branch.
In his welcome address, N Benjamin Tao, secretary Senapati branch, informed that there are around 450 members enrolled in Senapati District Widows' Association out of whom 140 widows have been benefitted from distribution of hygiene kits.
Without any help from the government or the government-sponsored schemes, IRCS also extends helping hand to the most-needy people in the society, he said, adding that the IRCS would support them in any possible way in future.
The district secretary also assured widows that Indian Red Cross is always behind them.
In his speech, Dr RK Nimai mentioned that the kits were sent from Delhi for distribution to 140 beneficiaries each in different districts.
IRCS is a volun tary organisation which is dedicated to the service of humanity, he said.
Expressing concern over the spread new Covid variant Omicron in the state, the state secretary also appealed to all to get vaccinated and use masks at all times which is the only way to stay safe from the pandemic.
He also informed that IRCS is planning to join hands in vaccination drive at different places of the state, adding that IRCS is distributing the hygiene kits for family use as a tool in the fight against the pandemic.
One of the women representatives present at the event expressed gratitude to IRSC for its concern for the widows of the district during these difficult times.
The representative also urged the state IRCS to include the district widows for other assistance like relief fund being provided to women in valley as announced in print and electronic media.
She also appealed to the authority concerned to look into the suffering of the widows and assist them in whatever way possible in future.
