Speaking at the occasion Dr Rajen Toijam requested creative writers to continue composing literary works, even if there are less chances of its publication for the sake of its audience.
Adding to the above request, Keisham Priyokumar said a writer has a vast number of issues to write on.
Now and then every creative writer has the urge to voice one of these issues in the form of a book.
Publication problems have however dimmed most of these urges inside the writer thereby, killing the creative writer inside an author.
Delivering the presidential speech, Dr Kh Sorojini said it was because of the efforts made by late MK Binodini that Leikol, a separate organisation for women writers, was bom.
Today Leikol is a widely known organisation for women writers of the State.
Shahitya Academy, including other culture related bodies of the country have acknowledged the presence of Leikol.
"This is just the beginning," Sorojini said and added, "Leikol still has miles to go" .
Later, Professor Elangbam Dinamani stressed the importance of a writer.
He said "creative writing does not mean writing anything that comes to the mind" .
Creative writings, he said, are followed by the writers' emotions.
"A writer writes to please his audience.
As such, every writer might not be able to communicate his voice to the masses but that should not stop him from writing," Dinamani added.
