Imphal, May 30 2021:
Awang Sekmai Scheduled Caste Development Committee has appealed to MLA of Sekmai assembly constituency H Dingo to set up a community home isolation centre (CHIC) for the constituency after consulting with Covid-19 Management Committee, Awang Sekmai at a suitable location at the earliest.
In a statement, the Committee said that it welcomes the objection raised from some local clubs against the opening of CHIC at Nilapadma Higher Secondary School.
The Committee upholds any decision to set up the CHIC at Sardar Patel High School, Khurkhul or at Lairenkabi, Phayeng, Phumlou, Kanglatongbi area or any other places.
They simply made an appeal to speed up the process for setting up the CHIC at Nilapadma High Secondary School, whose name was in the order issued by DC Imphal West on May 7.The Committee does not have any preference for location of the proposed CHIC but it only asked to open the CHIC at the earliest to keep the Covid positive people as more than 200 people have already been infected and at least six people have died.
On the other hand, it was unfortunate of the MLA to ask local clubs to submit proposal for setting up CHIC in different localities if desired while offering his help.
Instead, it would have been appropriate had the MLA assured of setting up a CHIC for the constituency.
It then urged the MLA to set up CHIC for the constituency with proper approval from the DC Imphal West by June 2.It also assured of assistance from local clubs, public and the Committee itself in the process.
