Sadar Buning Baptist Church celebrates Golden Jubilee

Sadar Buning Baptist Church, Kangpokpi district on Wednesday celebrated its golden jubilee (50 year) with pomp and gaiety.
The golden jubilee was celebrated under the theme, "Hitherto the Lord hath helped us", based on I Samuel 7:12.It was attended by Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen as chief guest and Sadar Buning village chief Lamkholen Kipgen as functional president while Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) president Rev Dr V Sitlhou and pastor Paothang Twipajang Gambih were minister and speaker respectively.
A monolith erected to commemorate the 50 years of God's goodness was unveiled by MLA Nemcha before it was dedicated by Rev Dr V Sitlhou while the dignitaries beat the traditional Jubilee gong 50 times to commemorate" the Golden Jubilee.
A souvenir was also published by the Golden Jubilee Committee to mark the occasion and it was released by TBAI executive secretary Rev Lunlal Kipgen.
While addressing the gathering, MLA Nemcha Kipgen said all the church members must take a sincere pledge on the occasion to devote themselves in the service of church for righteousness and to spread the news of God's love and salvation that extends to all people.
The MLA while urging not to blight God's gifted and blessed land, pointed out that many villages in the hill districts are indulging in illegal cultivation of poppy plants for easy money ignoring the impact on future generation.
She also touched on sand mining and quarrying activities in the hill districts and said "it is time we repent and turn back to God seeking forgiveness for polluting the land which he gifted us so that He will surely provide us enough resources for our livelihood" .
The MLA said that church also has a huge role in the preservation of land while adding that where there is no good church the society collapses.
