Family in distress sends SOS to Govt, public

Laishram Baleshwar (50), son of L Kumar was born at Ngaikhong Khullen but being landless had migrated to Tripura to earn his livelihood.
After getting trained as an electrician, he was living a respectable life until five-six months back.
However, due to fracture of his right ankle after an electric pole he was working on landed on him, he had been living life of a disabled and praying for government and public aid.
Since return from Tripura, L Baleshwar and his family including his wife and two children, a boy aged 18 years and a girl of 11 have been living in rented accommodation at Bishnupur Ward No 11 for around 30 years.
Owing to his physical condition, his wife has been doing some odd jobs to sustain the family.
As he cannot afford education of his children both dropped out of school with his son currently engaged as an assistant excavator operator.
Due to their financial condition, they vacated the rented accommodation arid moved in a government quarter of Water Supply, Chinikon only to leave the latter facility after the government ordered that no civilian can stay in government quarters.
Speaking to this daily, Baleshwar lamented that when he was fit he was able to maintain his family but now facing dilemma over where to stay and how to survive.
His wife, Kajini Devi mentioned that they are in no condition to afford a rented place, as they even have to skip regular meals many at times.
She also disclosed the family is in no condition to foot the bill for operation of her husband's fractured leg.
Kajini further appealed to the government and authority concerned to allow them to live at the quarter on humanitarian ground until her husband can start earning his livelihood.
On the other hand Wahengbam Subita Devi of Bishnupur Ward No 11 stated that the locality had pooled some money for the family after seeing their hardship but it cannot be continued for long.
The family has also received some help from the local MLA, but they need attention of the government, she added.
