Govt working for equal devt: Ibobi

State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today laid the foundation stones for three government polytechnics at Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong district headquarters.
Speaking to the gatherings during the foundation stone laying ceremonies at the three districts headquarters, Chief Minister Ibobi said that the state government is working towards bringing development in the hill districts.
It has been striving for providing facilities for water supply, power, health, education, etc keeping in view that the hill and the valley areas of the state should prosper on equal level.
In an attempt to achieve all these things, the State government has been demanding the Central government to provide assistance for the setting up of one government polytechnic in each of the district headquarters of the state.
The institute will surely provide an opportunity to all youths to choose and pursue trades of their own liking, and to strengthen the economic growth of the state and the individuals, which will also facilitate peace and prosperity in the land, asserted the Chief Minister.
He said that the Centre has okayed sanctioning of Rs 12.3 crore as Central Assistance in the setting up of the institute in the districts.
The sanctioned amount will be spent in the construction of administrative buildings and the purchasing of equipments.
The Chief Minister said that there is only one such institution in Imphal West at present where many youths of the State have been offered a diploma level courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication engineering and Pharmacy while adding that there has been a programme to include courses in Hotel Management, Food Technology, Travel and Tourism, Modern Office Management, Fashion Technology and Beauty Culture in the institute.
He further argued the state's technical education department to take up works in the interest of the future leaders and complete the constructions of the institutes while maintaining quality at earlier date and to enable the session begins next year.
The Chief Minister who travelled by an Indian Airforce helicopter was accompanied by Education Minister L Jayentakumar, TD Minister DD Thaisii and several other officials of the departments concerned.
