Imphal, February 10 2009:
Irked with the sudden postponement and cancellation of DPC for recruitment of Professors and Lecturers in Manipur University, the Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has resolved to prohibit entry of Vice-Chancellor C Amuba, Pro-VC HNK Sharma and Registrar N Lokendro from tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons at its office this afternoon, MUSU president Ksh Narayan said that DPC for recruitment of two Mathematics Professors scheduled today was postponed all of a sudden without issuing any prior notification.
In the same manner, DPC for recruitment of one Physics Professors was also cancelled at the 11th hour.
Postponement and cancellation of DPC in such manner without issuing any prior notification seemed to have been done at the behest of some group(s), the MUSU president said.
Such irresponsible conduct of the MU authority is an unfortunate episode not only for Manipur University but also for whole Manipur, Narayan lamented.
Reminding that MUSU has been urging for filling up the required number of teachers post since a long time back, Narayan asserted that recruitment process for teachers was initiated in response to the students' long standing demand.
For their blatant irresponsibility and conduct against the interest of the students of Manipur University and the people of Manipur at large, the VC, Pro-VC and the Registrar have been prohibited from entering MU campus with effect from tomorrow, the MUSU president announced.
In case, they are found violating the prohibition, the MU authority should be held responsible for any untoward incident resulting thereof, he added.
Stating that many candidates from outside the State are also taking part in the ongoing DPC, the MUSU president asserted that the three top officials of the University should either resign or take voluntary retirement for their highly irresponsible conduct.
