Kohima, February 10 2009:
The apex Naga students' body, Naga Students' Federation (NSF) today alleged that the Manipur Government becomes the main hindrance in affiliating the private schools from the four hill districts of Manipur Senapati, Ukhrul, Chandel and Tamenglong to Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) .
Dwelling on the decreasing number of students from the hill districts of Manipur to appear matriculation examinations under NBSE since 2005, NSF vice president, Charles Lotha today said that the decrease has been mainly because of the threatening from Manipur Government to private schools that they would be derecognized if they tend to get registered beyond the Board of School Education of Manipur (BSEM).
He said that Manipur Government has become the main hindrance in affiliation of Manipur schools to Nagaland as it has not only threatened the private schools but has also stopped issuing No Objection Certificate to the willing schools.
Therefore, NSF leader regretted that this time a just 9 students from Manipur have managed to qualify for the ensuing Nagaland High School Leaving Certificate examinations commencing from February 13 .
Mention may be made here that a total number of 14,563 students, including 9 students from Manipur would be appearing the HSLC exams in 35 different NBSE Centres, including Government and Private Schools.
