Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is going to be modernised in the real sense of the term.
Disclosing this today, Director Prof L Fimate said that all civil works of RIMS have been handed over to the Hospital Consultancy Corporation while the task of procurement of equipments is done by the Hindustan Latex Ltd.
Henceforth all contract works for construction of all sorts and purchase of all equipments will not be handled by the RIMS authority.
Master plans have been submitted for the construction of the Dental College, Nursing College, Out Patient Department, the Lecture Hall and the like.
Besides a number of state of art equipments had been purchased.
These include the cobalt machine costing Rs 2.5 crore and a CT scan.
Once these machines are installed the cancer patients need not go to other states for treatment.
Most of the equipments are outdated and their replacements are needed.
The Government of India had also constituted a high level committee to examine the needs for elevating RIMS to the AIIMS status.
A final list is being prepared today in New Delhi.The Director explained that infrastructure wise RIMS cannot have the AIIMS buildings.
But some equipments which are needed for the patients in the region are being procured The construction of the 200 capacity dharmashala is at the final stage.Once it is operational patient attedants can stay,cook food,etc.
The beds and other furniture in hospital are outdated and they are being replaced by new and modern ones.The laborary equipments are also being equipped with new ones.
Oxygen pipe will be connected to all wards.
Once this is done the patients do not have been rushed here and there in search of oxygen.
He further said that disposal of the hospital waste has been a problem.
The task of disposal of the same was handed over to a private firm.
It will clean the hospital complex two times a day.Arrangements are being made for providing running water and uninterrupted power supply since these are essential for the modern hospital.The experts are examining the source of raw water.
If everything goes according to plan students for the Dental college may be selected within this academic session.
He also appealed to all sections of people not to interfer with the works in the college and hospital.
