In order to have the knowledge of rights and good preservation of land and forest, the Churachandpur District Students' Union (CDSU) organised one day seminar on "Tribals Land and Forest Rights" at KKL complex on IB Road today.
Pu KVung-zamawi, lecturer of CCpur Govt College presented a paper on the topic "Tribal land ownership and development in Manipur" and outer Manipur MP Mani Charanamei spoke on "Land and forest preservation and how to manage it".
MP Mani Charanamei while speaking at the seminar stressed the careful preservation of land and forest.
He said, tribals' land is rich in medicinal plants, biodiversity.
Since tribals have land based economy, land and resources are associated with our cultures, tradition, survival and economy, and hence it needs to be preserve carefully before depletion saying that in America (US) migration takes place in search of fresh air where as migration takes place in ours in search of seeking job to metropolitan cities, he opined.
