Imphal, February 10 2009:
The recently rechristened United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) has warned the Food and Civil Supply Minister, Yungkham Irabot and Commissioner (FCS), S Budhachandra to hand over Rs 3 crore, of which scandal they are supposedly involved in, latest by February 17 .
Khuman Laishramcha, Assistant Secretary in Charge, District Committee Member (DCM), Information and Publicity Department, UPPK, stated in press release today that the three DSOs namely, S Iboton of Imphal west, W Deben of Imphal East and Th Bhumeshor of Bishnupur district, who have been in the custody of UPPK since January 30 were released safely at 7 pm last night.
They were released because it has been realised that FCS Minister Y Irabot and Commissioner (FCS), S Budhachandra were the ones involved in the APL rice scandal and that what the three DSOs did was forgivable, Khuman stated.
He further clarified that the party did not take a single rupee from any one or any of their families for releasing them.
If any person or any member of the party had taken money in relation with their safe release, inform the public about it through newspapers, and the party would investigate and mete out appropriate punishment, Khuman Laishramcha stated.
He further stated that it is the party's firm belief that it was with the intention of finding out the truth that the party had to give them some beatings and scoldings, and that it would not be misunderstood and would be excused.
