Imphal, February 10 2009:
Peeved with the alleged irregularity in distributing Science, Mathematics and Social Science text books for class X to book stores, a number of book store owner/keepers stormed the office of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) this afternoon.
Subsequent upon this, a joint meeting was held between the book store keepers and BSEM Secretary N Rajmohon along with MSF representatives.
During the meeting, the BSEM secretary assured the book store keepers that necessary measures will be taken up so that text books are issued to book stores uniformly under a specified rule from tomorrow.
Out of 35,000 copies of each of these three subjects printed at Kolkata, only 4960 copies for Mathematics, 3520 copies for Science and 3680 copies for Social Science have arrived till date.
The remaining copies of these text books may reach Imphal within a few days, said BSEM officials.
