One more Covid death recorded to take tally to 2125

Imphal, July 24 2022:
Manipur recorded one more Covid death and the fifth in the month (July) to take the death toll to 2,125 in the last 24 hours even as 90 persons tested positive for the virus in the period.
The sole person who died due to Covid infections was fully vaccinated against the contagion and had co-morbidity while the 90 fresh cases were confirmed at RIMS (28), JNIMS (7) and other testing centres (55) and are residents of Imphal East (32), Imphal West (29), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (7), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (1), Ukhrul (2), Senapati (2), Jiribam (2), Churachandpur (8) and Chandel (2) .
With this figure, the number of Covid active cases has risen to 640 .
The test positivity rate (TPR) for the period updated by the Covid Common Control Room was 13.9 per cent against the 7.7 updated yesterday as 90 samples out of 648 sent for confirmation returned positive.
Among the districts, Chandel reported the highest TPR at 28.6 per cent while Bishnupur registered 23.3 per cent and Imphal East 21.8 per cent.
The TPR of other districts stands at Churachandpur (15.7 pc); Imphal West (15 pc); Jiribam (1.9 pc); Kakching (10 pc); Kangpokpi (5.3 pc); Senapati (8.7 pc); Thoubal (11.1 pc) and Ukhrul (18.2 pc) .
As per the bulletin, at least 45 persons were discharged from home isolation (33), RIMS (4), JNIMS (2), SHRI (5) and Tamenglong (1) to take the recovered cases to 1,35,793 .
The recovery rate of the State is 98 per cent, as per the latest update.
Yesterday, 87 D-type and 19B-type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities in Manipur and in the same period 2443 Covid vaccine doses were administered.
In terms of Covid bed availability, at least 30 are unoccupied at RIMS (18) and JNIMS (12) .
At least 53.77 per cent of the eligible population in Manipur are fully vaccinated against Covid while another 62.14 per cent have taken the first dose.
The rate of vaccination, however, is still low in hill districts and at the bottom is Kangpokpi which has vaccinated only 17.82 per cent of the eligible population with the second dose.
