Traffic police to intensify drive

Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kakchingtabam Ajitkuma Sharma has said that the traffic police will intensify drive against drivers violating Central Motor Vehicles (CMV) rules.
Speaking to media persons at his office on Wednesday, Ajitkumar cautioned that those found violating the CMV rules such not wearing of helmet, driving without seat belt, without valid documents and underage drivers will be fined and appropriate actions initiated.
The traffic police have been conducting drive against traffic rules violators in several areas of Imphal.
In view of the increasing accidents amidst such precautions, the drive will be intensified as per the order of the government, he maintained.
Ajitkumar further said that traffic police will identify crowded places in Imphal and accident-prone areas and a special traffic police team will be stationed to conduct the drive from Wednesday itself.
Urging the drivers to possess requisite documents while driving, he exhorted to drive carefully and follow CMV rules strictly.
The service of the traffic police whether in rain or shine is for the safety of the public, the SP said while asserting that there will be no leniency against anybody who breaks the rules.
Ajitkumar further urged all concerned to park at designated spots and avoid double parking in Imphal city.
Moreover, selling of items on footpath should be stopped, he added.
