Festival of Narrative Art begins

It has become necessary to make understand younger generation all the traditional art forms of the State as they are the one who are going to preserve and flourish the art forms, S Manaoton, social activist stated.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of a seven-day long Festival of Narrative Art 2014 being organized jointly by Theatre Centre Manipur; JN Manipur Dance Academy and Mekola Dramatic Union at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hall, Mekola in Imphal West today.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Manaoton said that in the advent of development in every aspect with the passage of time, electronic gadgets like mobile phone and internet have made life easier which is good but at the same time people especially younger generation should not shy away from shouldering responsibility to preserve the culture and traditional art forms of the State which is also equally important.
He further said that it is high time for people to shun all kind of violence and thrive towards bringing in peace and development in the State.
Wareppa Naba, chairman of Theatre Centre Manipur who presided over the function said that the previous edition of the festival was also held at Mekola and called upon the people to put in concerted effort to develop narrative art which is on declining stage.
The inaugural function was also attended by B Thoibi Devi, president of Mekola Dramatic Union and S Ibobi, advisor of the union as Guests of Honor.
