Senapati, August 06 2014:
The Naga People's Organization (NPO), the apex body of the Nagas in Senapati district, has joined voices against the brutal assault of Ringsanbou Newmai, a student studying in Maram on July 28.The NPO vehemently condemned the act and termed it as immaturity, inhuman brutality and irresponsible incident committed by the perpetrators.
The apex Naga body of the district in a statement said that, such incident against the student's community cannot justify correcting a young student with iron fist when the modern education system has propagated leniency, understanding and assistance.
"Taking the law into their hands within the existence of the local bodies and civil bodies is out rightly condemned by all", the NPO added.
"The third degree torture and treatment to the victim is condemned by all and unacceptable to all right thinking citizens and student's community," it also said.
While sending out solidarity to the victim Ringsanbou Newmai who is now struggling in JNIMS ICU in Imphal fighting hard for life due to severe injuries caused by the culprits, the NPO also called for amicable and mutual resolution to the incident.
Meanwhile, while appreciating the move of civil bodies to intervene and deal the matter for delivering justice to the victim, the NPO appeals any individual or organization not to drag the name of the college into the incident as the incident happened outside the college and it has no role into the unfortunate incident.
The name of a well-established premier college like Don Bosco College Maram with its 'Peace Zone' demarcation has been exercising its highest form of discipline, integrity and quality for the cause of the student's community.
However, dragging in the name of the college into the incident and ultimatum served is unfortunate and against the wish of the general public, the NPO added.
