AR strikes it rich, recovers huge cache of arms

Assam Rifles have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition which were being carried hidden inside a Tata Sumo coming from Moreh to Imphal today.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), based on specific information regarding presence of UG cadres with huge cache of arms and ammunition in Uyumpok Lokchao, Sagolmang near Sericulture farm, troops of 16 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector AR under aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation.
During the course of the operation, the troops conducted a checking of a Tata Sumo bearing registration no.MNO5A-2674, which was coming from Moreh and found a huge cache of arms and ammunition hidden inside it.
The recovered arms and ammunition included one M-16 Rifle with magazine, four rounds of M-16 Rifle, two 7.65mm pistol with magazines, four rounds of 7.65mm, one C-150 Radio Set, one IC-V85 intercom RS and one G-3 Magazine, the PRO informed.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, five persons have also been arrested in connection with the seizure.
The arrested persons have been identified David Lungdim (23) of Khangnom Veng, Moreh; Pangam Touthang of Moreh ward no.9; Manash Vaiphei; Elex Haokip and S.Thanga.
