Imphal, July 19 2013 :
Reacting to the Jiribam incident of July 16 in which one Major Anand Kanti of 22 Assam Rifles assaulted some personnel of Jiribam Police Station including the Additional SP in a bid to rescue the arrested General Secretary of UTLA (SK Thadou Group), the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has cautioned the people to be beware of the Assam Rifles who claimed themselves to be "Friends of the Hill People" .
In a statement issued by its Secy Publicity Roben Khuman, RPF pooh-poohed the home coming ceremony of 45 cadres of UTLA (SK Thadou Group) terming it as an act devised by the AR to tarnish the revolutionary movement in the region.
However, the AR failed to convince the public with its "true colour" being exposed at the Jiribam incident.
They were indeed harbouring some unscrupulous organizations and using them as tools to extort money from people and carry out violent activities in the name of revolutionary parties, it asserted.
In the recent report on extrajudicial executions, the Supreme Court of India has even acknowledged gross human rights violation by security forces in the State.
The personnel of AR have been charged in myriad cases for violation of Indian law more than the revolutionary activists.
More than 2000 people might have been killed by AR during the last 20 years, the RPF said.
The outfit further pointed out that the AR were also involved in serving extortion note to RIMS Director in collusion with MDF cadres, who were later apprehended by Manipur Police Commandos.
The agenda of the Indian Government for deploying large number of security personnel is not for countering the insurgents, but to exploit the people of this land.
The involvement of one Lt Col Ajay Choudhury in Pallel drug trafficking case and AR personnel in transporting country liquor at Ukhrul are some evidences of the degraded behaviour of the Indian security forces.
The Military Civic Action Programme is also just an agenda of the Indian forces to deceive the people, it noted.
The RPF also lauded the police commandos and personnel of Jiribam Police Station who had boldly challenged the AR personnel led by Maj Anand Kanti and arrested the Gen Secretary of UTLA for extorting money from the public.
