Chief Minister calls for speedy trial to restore faith in judiciary

Imphal, July 19 2013 :
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today inaugurated District and Session court of Thoubal district at Thoubal District Court Complex.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Ibobi said the state Government has plan for setting up of district and session courts in all the districts of the State.
He also stressed on the need for such courts in all the sub-divisions, particularly in the remote hill areas.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur to initiate proposal for filling the two vacant posts of Judge in the High Court of Manipur.
The High Court of Manipur currently has only two Judges lying vacant for another two posts of Judge to be appointed.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister appealed to the judiciary to dispose of cases pending in different courts of the state, and noted that the faith of the public in the judiciary depends on speedy disposal of cases and delivery of justice.

He also assured that all the Judges of different courts in the state will be provided security.
The Chief Minister observed that the newly inaugurated district and session court of Thoubal has been empowered by the High Court to deal with cases under special laws such as the Family Courts Act and narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur, who was present during the function, emphasized on the importance of court in every district to ensure the benefits of judiciary system in the state.
Th Debendra Singh, Minister of Law and Legislative Affairs' Dr Kh Ratankumar, Works Minister; Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Judge of High Court of Manipur and Th Ibohal Singh, Advocate General were also present on the occasion.
