National Consumers' Day observed

Imphal, December 24 2018: Consumers' Club Manipur celebrated National Consumers' Day at Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Lampak today.

Kshetrigao constituency ML A Nahakpam Indrajit graced the event as chief guest while Consumers' Club Manipur president T Phulchand Sharma attended as functional president.

A speech was delivered by Consumer Dispute redressal forum, Imphal former president Dr Ch Narendra on 'Consumer Protection Act 1986'.Manipur Health Services Deputy Director Dr Soram Ingocha spoke on 'Act and rules of private nursing home and clinic and Manipur Medical Council'.

MLA Nahakpam Indrajit, while speaking on the occasion, said that as per Consumer Protection Act 1986, a consumer should be well aware of its right to safety, right to be heard and right to redressal.

It is necessary to be remain vigilant of any frauds committed by any shopkeeper/company and be well aware of the legal action that could be taken against them.

He appealed to all to know their consumer rights and raise awareness among others as well.

Consumers' Club Manipur president T Phulchand Sharma said that a person should not hdld back while claiming their own consumer rights.

He underlined the need to focus on the health sector as well while keeping a strict inspection on the setting up of new pharmacies at different parts of the State.
