Lyzon Friendship School, Khomunnuom, Singngat Subdivision, under the aegis of Sunbird Trust, organised a Christmas gift distribution ceremony to about 80 underprivileged families in the presence of Pu Paokhohao Lupheng, Chief of Khomunnuom; Pu Haupu, Secretary, Village Authority, Khomunnuom; Pu Thathang, Proprietor, Lyzon Friendship School; Pu T KC Mang, Chairman, Lyzon Charitable Trust, while Pu Thanglunlal, Principal, Lyzon Friendship School chaired the ceremony.
Addressing the attendees on behalf of the village chief, Pu Haupu, Secretary, Village Authority, in his speech, commended the tireless efforts of retd Col Christopher Rego in acknowledging the plight and lending a helping hand to the poor and destitute and added that the village is privileged to have such high standard school which was run under the abled leadership of Pu Thathang who is the custodian of the school and is managing the school with sheer determination and high principle.
Proprietor, Pu Thathang, in his speech, heaped high praises for the Chief of Khomunnuom for willingly donating a piece of land for the school.
It is through the Chiefs generosity and benevolence that such a ceremony could be held, he added and expressed his gratitude to retd Col Christopher Rego and Sundbird Trust for their unwavering efforts, especially in the northeast, to provide help and aid to orphans, the impoverished, and the down and out individuals and families.
Stating that it is through the retd colonel's and the trust's untiring spirit that the school could be established, Pu Thatang said it is up to the parents and their children to make the school a success by putting education their utmost priority.
Pu T KC Mang, social worker and Chairman, Lyzon Charitable Trust also appreciated retd colonel and Sunbird Trust and expressed gratitude to the chief of Khomunnuom for his self-less work.
He further stated that Lyzon Friendship School has been registered under the Education (s) Department Govt of Manipur and can enrol students up to Eighth Standard (Class VHJ).
He also exhorted and seek the cooperation of the parents and children for maximum attendance to make the school a thriving educational institution.
The ceremony ended with the distribution of modest gifts to the beneficiaries families who have attended the event by Pu Paokhohao Lupheng, chief of Khomunnuom.
The families greeted the retd Colonel and the Trust for their generosity and benevolence.
