TB claims 1464 lives in state in 11 years

Imphal, November 17 2012:
Approximately 1464 people lost their lives from Tuberculosis (TB) in the state in the last 11 years while 39120 patients have been successfully treated.
According to the data published under the Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP), 66 people died from TB in 2001 while 1379 were cured.
In 2002, the death toll was reduced to 56 and the number of cured persons reached 2474 .
In 2003, 250 were killed while 4747 were cured.
The figure of fatality and cured were respectively 207 and 4461 in 2004; 165 and 4685 in 2005; 122 and 3986 in 2006; 57 and 3953 in 2007; 151 and 3593 in 2008; 147 and 3573 in 2009; 131 and 3554 in 2010 and 114 and 2716 in 2011 .
As per the data, the highest number of death toll from TB was recorded in State at 250 in 2003 .
