Guru Rewben hopes music ushers peace

Award-winning tribal folk music exponent and promoter Guru Rewben Mashangva expressed hope that his cherished wish for peace in the region will ultimately prevail through his musical endeavours.
Speaking to the Sangai Express, Guru Rewben said he has firm belief that music will ultimately usher peace in the region as the same medium had been successful in spreading the message of love and goodwill at every trouble-torn corner of the world.
Rewben, who was conferred with the Guru title by the Ministry of Culture for his contribution to folk music, maintained that in every section of the global community art and music are highly regarded.
Opining that aspiration for progress and prosperity of North Eastern States such as Nagaland, Assam, Mizoram or Manipur would remain elusive in case they remain as separate entities, he strongly suggested that unity amongst these States would certainly herald a new era of peace and development.

Originally hailing from Choithar village of Ukhrul district but presently a resident of Nagaram, the renowned tribal folk musician also pointed out that in case politicians are sincere enough the amount of fundings from successive Central Governments would be more that enough to propel Manipur into one of the most developed States.
Rewben, who had performed in almost every part of the NE region as well as in some cities of India pledged that he would continue to rely on music to bring ultimately bring peace and prosperity in the region in general and Manipur in particular.
