Sangai festival to be webcast live

Ahead of Manipur Sangai Festival, 2012, a new website (www.sangaifestival.gov.in) was launched by Parliamentary Secretary in-charge of Tourism and Youths Affairs & Sports M Prithviraj during a simple function at his office chamber in New Secretariat here today.
The festival which aims to promote touristic potentials of Manipur is scheduled to begin from November 21 at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound.
It is said that the entire event would be webcast live on the website this time.
Speaking at the website launching function, Prithviraj said the newly launched website will enable people everywhere to watch the 10-day festival live at any time.
A total of 300 different stalls will take part at the carnival.
Of these, 100 stalls alone will sell food items.
Several cultural troupes from Manipur and other states would also be participating in the festival.
There will be separate timings for troupes from the hill districts for cultural performances during the event, the Parliamentary Secretary informed.
The Manipur Sangai Festival is being organized by Tourism Department, Government of Manipur every year as a calendar festival and a Delhi based firm has started putting the detailed of the fest on the social networking site Facebook to promote it, he further disclosed.
The state Tourism Department is spending around Rs 2 crores in organizing the carnival.
Out of the total amount the GoI has contributed Rs 50 lakh.
Prithiviraj further informed that four parking sites have been arranged for the festival�Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi, Andro Parking, WAL Club, Angom Leikai and Raja Dumbra High School at Konung Mamang.
All vehicles except those with vehicle pass would be allowed to park only in these spaces allotted for parking.
The website launching function was also attended by Hrisheekesh Modak, Director, Tourism Department and Kamei Angam Romanus, Superintendant of Police, Imphal East district.
