Vehicle lifters' gang busted

Along with nabbing seven people, a combined team of Lilong Police and volunteers of Anjuman Islah-E-Muashrah has busted a gang of vehicle lifters.
Moreover, nine two-wheelers and a number of equipment used in forging documents have also been seized.
Displaying the recovered vehicles and equipment along with the arrested thieves at Lilong PS today, Anjuman executive member Muheiyuddin said that the seven gang members were nabbed during a special drive launched since 8.30 am yesterday around Lilong Dam area.
The drive was launched together with volunteers of the Anjuman following a proposal from OC Md Tomba of Lilong PS to launch a joint drive.
At first, Md Rajauddin (35) s/o Ziauddin of Lilong Dam Mathak was pulled up from his home.
Four two-wheelers (one number each of Activa, Access, Pleasure and Wego) were recovered from his home along with some equipment used in making fake documents.
Soon after, the combined team raided the home of Md Salim (35) s/o Abdul Helim at Lilong Dam Maning.
One Honda Activa and a Pleasure scooter were recovered from Salim's house but he managed to flee away.

He fled away in a blue A-Star car together with some other gang members which was without registration number after opening a few round of shots.
Further, Md Mustaque (23) s/o Rahimuddin of Lilong Tairen Makhong and Md Zakariya (27) s/o Md Idrish of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai were also pulled up along with three two-wheelers.
In the meantime, those gang members who fled away from the A-Star car were apprehended in front of Imphal police station last evening and they were subsequently handed over to Lilong PS, Muheiyuddin said.
Then, Md Abash Khan (31) s/o late Rajaul Hague of Thoubal Moijing, Md Ziaur Rahman alias Sira (27) s/o Md Rahim of Lilong Mayai Leikai, Md Wakar Yunus (21) s/o late Allaudin of Lilong Bazar and Md Abdul Wahid alias Boboy (22) s/o Serajuddin of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai were also pulled up.
Abash Khan is a PULF surrenderee and it was he who opened fire before fleeing in the A-Star car.
Articles seized from Rajauddin included one Samsung laptop, Canon colour printer cum scanner, Epson Dot Matrix printer, smart card making machine, lamination machine and a spiral binding machine.
In addition, three bottles of printer ink of different colours, cutters, round seals, fake driving licences, three fake Smart cards, documents with forged signatures of Thoubal DTO and two non-judicial stamp papers were also recovered from his possession.
Apart from this gang of vehicle lifters, one Md Kheiruddin (22) of Lilong Chingkham Makha who was arrested a few days back for reportedly lifting a Honda Activa from Singjamei area was also paraded before media persons along with the stolen Activa.
Together with arrest of the eight vehicle lifters, five numbers of Honda Activa, two numbers of Access, two numbers of Pleasure and one Wego have been recovered in the last two/three days.
Anjuman has been working relentlessly since the past few years to check drug abuse, thievery and related crimes, and it would continue with its campaign in collaboration with either police or Assam Rifles or both, Muheiyuddin said.
Except one, all the ten recovered vehicles have their engine numbers and chassis numbers tampered.
Nevertheless, arrangements are being made to return the vehicles to genuine owners after due consultation with experts, said OC Tomba.
