Stage set for Sangai Festival

Along with launching of the website www.sangaifestival.gov.in ahead of the formal inauguration of the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival, parking slots for Festival visitors have been finalised today.
The website launch programme was held today at the Manipur Secretariat office chamber of Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism M Prithviraj, with the Moirang AC MLA soliciting suggestions from all concerned to make the upcoming festival a grand success.
While the Hapta Kangjeibung in Palace Compound would be the main venue of the Festival, other events such as adventure sports would be conducted at Loktak Lake and MMTA's Adventure Sports Complex at Leimatak.
For the November 21 to 30 Festival, a total of 300 stalls, including 100 food stalls would be set up, said Prithviraj who also informed that a delegation from Thailand led by south east Asian country's Commerce and Industries Minister would be participating.

Further stating many other States of India would be represented in the Festival, he said presentation of cultural items would the main highlight of the annual event.
Cultural artistes from the five hill districts of Manipur would be showcasing their respective rich cultural heritage, maintained Prithviraj.
On the otherhand, SP (Imphal East) Angam Romanus Kamei informed that CCTVs would be installed at all corners of the main festival complex as a part of security arrangement.
All vehicles except those with 'Vehicle Pass' will have to park at Keithel Ashangbi, Andro Parking, WAL Club (Angom Leikai) complex and raja Dumbra High School complex, he said.
According to the Director (Tourism) Hrisheekesh Modak, Ministry of Culture has released Rs 50 lakhs for organising Manipur Sangai Festival out of which half the amount has been provided to Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association to conduct various adventure sports as a par of the Festival.
It is also said that the State Government would be providing Rs 1.50 crores for the Festival.
