Imphal, October 19 2015:
Andro village will not allow the villagers of Sandangsemba Maring village to carry out cultivatation at the sacred place where Andro villagers have been continuously performing ritual offerings since time immemorial, stated Andro village chief Ch Gandhar.
During a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Monday, Ch Gandhar denied the reports on destruction of food grains cultivated by Sandangsemba Maring villagers at Chonga Loukol.
That area is not a part of Chonga Loukol but a sacred place where Andro villagers have been performing ritual ceremonies since ancient time, said Gandhar.
District Authority imposed section 144 CrPC in the area when Sandangsemba Maring villagers tried to claim the land before.
Written reports were sent to Andro Police Station and Sandangsemba Maring village chief on June 13 last on the issue, said Gandhar while adding that the controversial Chonga Loukol is not a part of Andro village or Sandangsemba Maring village but an area where Huikap villagers are inhabited.
