Imphal-Saikul road blocked

Imphal, October 19 2015:
Besides staging roadblock along Imphal-Saikul road, protesters today burnt the effigies of Revenue Minister and Director of Art and Culture in protest agaist the move of the State Govt to acquire land for setting up of a film city in Chingkhu area under Khundrakpam AC.
The Chingkhu Village Authority and Chingkhu Khundrakpam Loukol Kanba Lup had, in a joint meeting held on Oct 11 at Community Hall, resolved to call indefinite Imphal-Saikul road if the Govt fails to withdraw its plan to acquire land in the area for setting up a film city within five days.
The meeting also resolved to boycott public leaders of the area if the plan to acquire land is not withdrawn.
The meeting on Oct 11 was attended by villagers and agriculture land owners of Chingkhu, Haraorou, Tangkham, Khundrakpam and Pangei, representatives of ICHAM, CPLPC, LOUSAL, PALR.
Public including womenfolk of the area today blocked the Imphal-Saikul road at various points.
The protesters said that the roadblock will be enforced till tomorrow.
And if no positive action is taken up thereafter, other forms of protest will be taken up.
