Imphal, September 13 2022:
As the state government remains silent over the demands raised by Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) even after days of resorting to cease work strike, the association is now mulling of intensifying its agitation by taking recourse to locking down of the secre -tariat office to draw attention of the government.
Interacting with the media at the protest site, New Secretariat office here on Tuesday, MSSA general secretary Sougrakpam Rabi said that the cease work strike could have been avoided had the government heard and discussed the demands raised by the association earlier.
It has now been nine days since they began the cease work strike and still the government is remaining silent.
MSSA is not a hardliner while pressing for their demand and they are open to negotiation and discussion.
It is unfortunate that the government is totally ignoring their demands and the cease work strike they are carrying out, he said.
The secretary further said that MSSA has no objection to the transfer policy of the government but they take it seriously when one of the staffers of secretariat was transferred to an out-of-the-state post.
MSSA would not have said anything if the transfer was made as per existing rules, he said, while urging the government to reconsider the decision.
Rabi further said that unless the government acknowledges their concerns and takes up necessary initiatives to defuse the situation, they are considering intensification of the stir including locking down the secretariat office to register their protest and make their voice louder so that it reaches the ears of the government.
Mention may be made here that the cease work strike by secretariat employees began from September 5 pressing the government to fulfil the 9-point charter of demands submitted by the association.
