Cleanliness drive continues

Wangoo Development Committee, Women's Wing with the support of citizens of the surrounding areas carried out an intensive cleanliness drive along the 10 km stretch of road from Wangoo Lamkhai to Wangoo Napa Ching, Warukok today.
Notably, the day's effort was carried out as part of their ongoing cleanliness drive initiative undertaken from September 10 in observance of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot's birth month.
Speaking from the sideline of the cleanliness drive, Amom Manikumar, secretary, Wangoo Development Committee shared that under the leadership of K Ranjit Singh, MLA Sugnu constituency, around 5000 trees had been planted at Wangoo Lamkhai since 2013 in order to combat the deteriorating state of the surrounding environment.

Since these trees have attained maturity, every year citizens of the nearby regions undertake a cleanliness drive for their proper upkeep and maintenance.
He also called upon the people to be well aware of the bond between mankind and trees and how the former cannot survive without the latter.
Leader of the Women's Wing, RK Leima also addressed the gathering and stated that planting trees is easy, however, keeping these trees alive is a harder task.
As such, she made an appeal to the public to contribute in working towards this end and aid in maintaining the ecological balance.
