Imphal, September 13 2022:
The National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) observed its 22nd foundation day at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen at Thangmeiband today.
At the observance, NIPCO secretary Siraj Nongjaimayum said that the council was established on September 13, 2000 .
He also said that NIPCO has been working relentlessly to bring uniform development in the State by reaching out to people in remote villages.
Claiming the Government of India, however, has been scheming to disintegrate the State by employing different tactics, he stressed on the need to identify who the friends and foes are to build a united Manipur .

"We, the people of Manipur, must help one another so as to co-exist harmoniously," Siraj said and maintained that the Government must not work on ethnic lines which can cause misunderstanding among the people. There would be no future for Manipur if there is division among the people, Siraj added.
NIPCO president Oinam Premjit said that NIPCO is an organisation which works along with all indigenous communities of Manipur to bring unity.
As a part of the observance, a cultural programme called Rhythm of Unity (Apunbagi Tantha) was held.
Saying "we have been working to protect the territorial integrity of the State," Premjit maintained that there, however, is misunderstanding among the ethnic communities at times and it is disappointing.
The gatherings observed silence for a minute to pay homage to the deceased members of NIPCO while simple gifts were presented to media persons and different CSO leaders.
Indigenous Minorities Organisation Manipur (IMOM) president Rengenson Thanga; NIPCO former president M Medun Maring; Haomi Research Guild Manipur chairman Robin Shinglai; Zeliangrong Union Assam, Manipur, Nagaland vice president Athai Kamei and Kharam Student's Union Manipur former president Abraham Shaichal also attended the programme.
