UCM reaches out to farmers, distributes urea

Imphal, September 13 2022:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Agriculture Department jointly organised a farmers' training programme on 'Rejuvenation of farm economy and distribution of urea' at Pukhao Khabam community hall on Tuesday.
In a statement, UCM informed that the training programme was attended by Makheng Dolaithabi ZP member N Sanatomba, UCM vice president YK Dhiren, Pukhao GP pradhan Ch Inao and UCM Pukhao unit chairman W Khomei as presidium members.
Delivering the key note address of the programme, UCM secretary (organisation) Nahakpam Shanta said that they will form a development committee to help the farmers in overcoming their inconveniences due to lack of government facilities and improve economy of the people.
UCM has been organising farmers training programme at different places to make the farmers aware about changing farming methods around the world.
Yk Dhiren highlighted the need of developing agriculture to enhance the economy of Manipur.
Economy will surely improve only when production is increased, he added.
Stating that the central government has taken up several projects and schemes through the agriculture department for the welfare of farmers, he observed that 70 per cent of the farmers are yet to avail benefits of the schemes meant for them as they are not aware of them.
50 urea bags were also distributed to farmers at subsidised rate on the occasion.
