Transport society derides Association's charge

The Mayang Imphal Road Motor Transport Cooperative Society Limited secretary S Manglem has termed as both unfortunate and condemnable alleged attempt by president of All Mayai Lambi Transport Association to portray the society in wrong light.
Addressing media persons at the society's Mayang Imphal Bazar office on Tuesday, S Manglem said that the Transport Cooperative Society Limited has been serving public after it got registered in 1967-68.Until recently, altogether 78 passenger buses of the society rendered service to the people along different routes which include 27 buses at Mayang Imphal station, 28 at Wabagai station, six at Tera station, two each at Komlakhong, Phoubakchao and Uchiwa stations, three at Khelakhong, three Imphal-Kakching ring round service and one Imphal-Chandel Kakching, he said and wondered as to how All Mayai Lambi Transport Association was formed without knowledge of the society.
While terming as baseless the allegation levelled by the Transport Association president that the society has only 26 buses, S Manglem said that the society is currently rendering service to the people with 40 Tata magic vehicles at Mayang Imphal station, 10 at Sekmaijin, 12 at Komlakhong, eight at Tera and 24 buses at Wabagai station.
Regarding bus parking, S Manglem said that parking for passenger buses has been changing from time to time as per government's policy and the present bus parking at Wahengbam Leikai near the crematorium was allotted as per a government order issued on October 3, 2015 and All Mayai Lambi Transport Association has no right to interfere in the parking system.
