CM assures help to victims of Emergency

Imphal, September 13 2022:
A three-member team of Loktantra Senani Sangh (LSS) Manipur met chief minister N Biren on Tuesday and discussed the issues related to activists who were jailed during the Emergency declared in 1975 by the then Congress government.
In a release, LSS Manipur said that the team of the Sangh led by its president M Ibomcha which also included North East states in-charge Kameswore Singh held a meeting with CM N Biren at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they apprised the CM about the difficulties faced by the activists who had opposed the Emergency imposed by the then Congress government at the centre along with their families, it added.
LSS Manipur continued that after hearing the stories, the CM assured that old-age pension will be provided to such activists along with covering them under the CMHT scheme.
He also stated that they will be invited and honoured at various state level programmes and pensions and other benefits will be provided to them as given in other states after verifying the list submitted by the Sangh, it further mentioned.
